IBM Support

Default File Permissions Assigned to ACTIONTOOLS

Question & Answer

Question

After installing TWS we see that the default permissions for /_uninstall/ACTIONTOOLS contain -rwxr-xr-x 1 root. Why is this and can we change them ?

Cause

The is by design.

Answer

The permissions are assigned in that way because both root and other users (TWS user for example) need to execute the scripts for certain activities (some examples are in the Planning and Installation Guide),

If you change the permissions then it can cause the failure of some scripts.
