This document contains release information that was not documented in the published Release Notes.

Overview

IBM Security Privileged Identity Manager, Version 2.1.0, is a virtual appliance for the IBM® Security Privileged Identity Manager solution. The virtual appliance simplifies deployment, administration, and configuration.

 


Take note of the following in-built security considerations:

 

  • The virtual appliance is pre-packaged with a hardened operating system on which the ISPIM server applications run on.
  • There is no interface to access the underlying operating system or middleware that is within the virtual appliance.
  • Security patches to embedded software in the virtual appliance are delivered through firmware upgrades or fix packs for the virtual appliance.


This release delivers new features, enhancements, currency support, and security product integration:

  • Privileged Session Gateway
  • Google Chrome support for IBM Security Privileged Identity Manager web consoles
  • Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 support
  • Integration with IBM Security Identity Governance and Intelligence
  • Privileged Access Agent for automatic credential check-in and check-out
  • Removed Java browser plug-in requirement
  • Documentation updates- IBM Security Privileged Identity Manager Planning and Deployment Guide
  • Documentation updates- Privileged Access Agent on a Gateway
  • Privileged Session Gateway activation key
  • Privileged Session Gateway trusted sessions
  • Enhanced Privileged Session Gateway setup for outbound certificate management
  • Custom rule to validate password policies
  • IBM Cognos® Analytics 11 support and new reports
  • External Active Directory for failover
  • DB2® for Automatic Client Reroute (ACR)
  • Privileged Access Agent, Windows 10 Anniversary Update, and other enhancements
  • IBM Security Privileged Identity Manager Disaster Recovery environment
  • Migration data from IBM Security Privileged Identity Manager version 1.x to IBM Security Privileged Identity Manager version 2.x

UPDATE: Starting from August 2018, to obtain the latest fix packs and support for the Privileged Access Agent client, download Privileged Access Agent 2.1.1. For more information, see compatibility announcement.

Fix packs are released periodically to provide updates to the software that can resolve known problems, add new functions, or keep the software operating efficiently.

Supporting Program - IBM Security Access Manager 9.0.3

From IBM Security Privileged Identity Manager version 2.1.0 Fix Pack 6 onwards, IBM® Security Access Manager version 9.0.3 is offered as a supporting program. Refer to the license file for the terms and conditions of the components that are offered.

 


The IBM® Security Access Manager components are packaged under the IBM Security Privileged Identity Manage eAssembly CJ19RML and is available for download at IBM Passport Advantage®.

Note: Installation of IBM® Security Access Manager components is optional. You require these components only if you integrate IBM® Security Privileged Identity Manager with IBM Security Access Manager for the 2-factor authentication mechanism.
