How do I set or configure the correct permissions on IBM SPSS Statistics product installation folder?

Problem

The permissions or privileges to the installation folder of my IBM SPSS Statistics product might not be correctly set or configured.

Resolving The Problem

  1. If open, close the IBM SPSS Statistics product.
  2. If open, close the license authorization wizard.
  3. Open the 'Finder' program.
  4. Select the 'Go' menu.
  5. Select the 'Utilities' menu.
  6. Open the 'Terminal' program.
  7. Perform the procedure corresponding to the Statistics product version.

Statistics Release 21

  1. Type (copy-and-paste) the following command: cd /Applications/IBM/SPSS/Statistics/
  2. Press the 'Enter' or 'Return' key on the keyboard.
  3. Type (copy-and-paste) the following command: sudo chown -R root: admin 21
  4. Press the 'Enter' or 'Return' key on the keyboard.
  5. Close the 'Terminal' program.
  6. The permissions or privileges for the product installation directory are now properly configured.


Statistics Release 22

  1. Type (copy-and-paste) the following command: cd /Applications/IBM/SPSS/Statistics/
  2. Press the 'Enter' or 'Return' key on the keyboard.
  3. Type (copy-and-paste) the following command: sudo chown -R root: admin 22
  4. Press the 'Enter' or 'Return' key on the keyboard.
  5. Close the 'Terminal' program.
  6. The permissions or privileges for the product installation directory are now properly configured.
