Oracle Java, Standard Edition
Maximo 7.5 Java applets used Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.7 or 1.8. Oracle ended public updates of Java 7 at the end of April 2015.
Web browsers
As of the end of 2016, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome no longer supported the use of the Java plug-in. Firefox, Chrome and Microsoft Edge, which does not support plug-ins, are supported for use with Maximo 7.5.
Oracle Java 9, released in September 2017, deprecated the Java browser plug-in.
Maximo Asset Management 7.6
Maximo Asset Management 7.6.0.6, released in October 2016, completed the replacement of all Java applets with HTML5 applets.

IBM did not deprecate Maximo 7.5 Java applets and replace their functionality with HTML5. Workflow Designer, Direct Print, Scheduler, and Asset Topology still required the Java plug-in he last Maximo 7.5 fix pack release (7.5.0.1.1).
Impact and Remediation
If you intend to continue to use Maximo 7.5 applets with Mozilla Firefox, you must Firefox 39.
You can continue to use Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 with Java 7 and 8.
