Troubleshooting
Problem
The IBM Spectrum Protect server 7.1.6 installation completes sucessfully, but when you try to run the 'DSMSERV FORMAT' utility to initialize a server instance it fails with following error messages.
Symptom
"The Procedure entry point AddDllDirectory could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll"
Cause
A Windows hotfix is not installed on the system.

Diagnosing The Problem
The error below may be seen when running the dsmserv format command.
Resolving The Problem
To resolve this issue:
1. Check if Microsoft hotfix KB2533623 is installed on the system by running the following command.
- wmic qfe get hotfixid | find "KB2533623"
2. If not then download and apply 'KB2533623' from the below link.
3. After applying the patch, restart the Windows server and then retry the "dsmserv format" command.
