WebSphere Application Server exception can occur on a WebSockets upgrade request

Problem

The following message can occur on a WebSockets upgrade request: []MessageSentException: Message already sent.[] A null pointer exception follows the message.

Symptom

The following exceptions can occur during a WebSockets upgrade request.

WCChannelLink E com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.channel.WCChannelLink finishBufferAsynch SRVE8104E: Internal Server Error. Exception Message: [{0}]
                                 java.lang.NullPointerException
        at com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.channel.WCChannelLink.finishBufferAsynch(WCChannelLink.java:760)

       
and

com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.channel.WCChannelLink finishBufferAsynch SRVE8104E: Internal Server Error. Exception Message: [{0}]
                                 com.ibm.wsspi.genericbnf.exception.MessageSentException: Message already sent

Resolving The Problem

No workaround exists for this problem.
