DESCRIPTION:
IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty Profile using the API Discovery feature could provide weaker than expected security when using Swagger documents with external references, which could allow an authenticated attacker to gain the privileges of the user.

Affected Products and Versions

This vulnerability affects the following versions and releases of IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty for any user of the API Discovery feature with Swagger documents that have external references.

  • Version 8.5.5 Liberty Profile

Remediation/Fixes

The recommended solution is to apply the interim fix, Fix Pack or PTF containing APAR PI62450 for each named product as soon as practical.


For V8.5.5.8 through 8.5.5.9 WebSphere Application Server Liberty:
· Upgrade to minimal fix pack levels as required by interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PI62450
--OR--
· Apply Fix Pack 16.0.0.2 or later.
