External library manager fails to mount tape for Storage Agent.

Troubleshooting


Problem

A Storage Agent is installed on Windows. The LAN-Free backup is configured with the IBM Tape System Library Manager (TSLM) external library manager. The Storage Agent fails to mount the tape.

Symptom

The Spectrum Protect (Tivoli Storage Manager) server logged the following errors :

ANR0530W Transaction failed for session 1234 for node MYNODE (WinNT) - internal server error detected.
ANR8393E (Session: 5678, Origin: MYSTAGENT) Failed to communicate with the external library LIB01 through it's defined external library manager path.

Diagnosing The Problem

Review the Storage Agent configuration with the Spectrum Protect server and ensure that the correct library path is defined for the Storage Agent external library manager.

Review the external library manager configuration on the storage agent and ensure that it is working properly.

In this case, the external library manager on the Storage Agent machine was not working properly.

Resolving The Problem

Re-install the external library manager on the Storage Agent machine and ensure it is working properly.

If needed, re-install the Storage Agent and ensure that the correct version (32-bit vs 64-bit) is installed correctly.
