Problem

Symptom

L2 Rule : SHC027
Issue Detected : Failed hardware component(s)
Severity : Medium
Components : rack1.host1 with HW_ID = 1005 : role is Active state is Unreachable
rack1.host1.hostDisk1 with HW_ID = 1019 : role is Active state is None
rack1.host1.hostDisk2 with HW_ID = 1020 : role is Active state is None
rack1.host1.hostDisk3 with HW_ID = 1021 : role is Active state is None
rack1.host1.hostDisk4 with HW_ID = 1022 : role is Active state is None
rack1.host1.hostDisk5 with HW_ID = 1023 : role is Active state is None
rack1.host1.hostDisk6 with HW_ID = 1024 : role is Active state is None
rack1.host1.hostDisk7 with HW_ID = 1025 : role is Spare state is None
rack1.host1.SASController0 with HW_ID = 1026 : role is Active state is None
rack1.host1.fan1 with HW_ID = 1027 : role is Active state is None
rack1.host1.fan2 with HW_ID = 1028 : role is Active state is None
rack1.host1.fan3 with HW_ID = 1029 : role is Active state is None
rack1.host1.pwr1 with HW_ID = 1030 : role is Active state is None
rack1.host1.pwr2 with HW_ID = 1031 : role is Active state is None

Cause

Root password is outdated.

Diagnosing The Problem

When you ssh as root from one host to another it should be a passwordless transition.
If root password is outdated instead of the prompt you get a password change request which breaks the status check scripts

Resolving The Problem

Change root password on affected host.
