Problem

In the case where IBM Cognos Controller 10.2.1FP4 is installed to run as a local client on a Windows 10 client machine, it is required that Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 is installed.

Symptom

When launching IBM Cognos Controller 10.2.1FP4 the user will receive the following dialog prompting the user to download and install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.

Cause

.NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 is not installed with Microsoft Windows 10.

Resolving The Problem

Install .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 or when prompted as seen in the screenshot above click “Download and install this feature”. Restart the client machine after installation of .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1.

Note: Although IBM Cognos Controller requires Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, some functionality depends on version information found in the v2.0.50727 directory. If you have an unsupported version of Microsoft .NET Framework, you might not receive a response when you start IBM Cognos Controller.
