Is it possible to move a IBM TRIRIGA record to NULL transition state even it is linked to other records?

Question & Answer

Question

Is it possible to move a IBM TRIRIGA record to NULL transition state even it is linked to other records?

Cause

Need to check if there is a way to move a IBM TRIRIGA record to NULL transition state, therefore this record is linked to other records: groups, licenses, requests, tasks, buildings, etc.

Answer

See that if there is any action performed against a record with NULL transition state, this goes out of this initial transition state value.

When a record is first created, it is created in a special transition state called NULL. Records in the NULL transition state change immediately to another transition state value after any operation that currently uses the record is performed.

All of the available options in the transition Action list for the record with NULL transition state value are actions that transition records out of the NULL transition state. There is no way to return a record to the initial NULL transition state at all.

Since any action will get those records out of NULL transition state, there is no way to have dependent records under such circumstances: NULL transitional records have no linked records, so no dependent or parent records.

If a record is in NULL transition state, and it is then marked to be deleted, there is no way it has dependent records, so no orphan record will be left. Anyway, the IBM TRIRIGA Cleanup process would take care of any orphan record in system.
