Installation of IBM Rational Synergy 7.2 and above on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) version 6x and above reports the error: /lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory

Problem

On plain vanilla RHEL 6x and above, some of the 32 bit libraries are not available. While installing IBM Rational Synergy 7.2 and above, the following error is reported: ccm/unix/bin/../linux/ccm_hostname: /lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory ERROR: current hostname '' contain '_' is not supported

Symptom

/lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory

ERROR: current hostname '' contain '_' is not supported

ccm version -a does not display Informix version.

Cause

IBM Rational Synergy 7.2 and above requires some of the 32 bit libraries to be installed on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6x and above for successful installation and functioning as desired.

Diagnosing The Problem

During the installation using "<path to installer>/ccm_install -x" of IBM Rational Synergy 7.2 and above, or while checking the version information, the errors related to missing 32 bit libraries will be reported such as

/lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory

ERROR: current hostname '' contain '_' is not supported

Resolving The Problem

In order to eliminate these errors or warnings the following 32-bit libraries or packages to be installed on RHEL 6x and above. The minimum versions of these 32-bit packages are listed.
