When Installing Enterprise Content Management System Monitor(ECM SM), the Link for the Source Forge Shell Fails

Troubleshooting

Problem

When Installing Enterprise Content Management System Monitor(ECM SM), the Link for the Source Forge Shell Fails.

Cause

Sourceforge.net changed their download URL to use https instead of http.
The download link for the UNIX like shell is used by Windows based ECM SM Servers and Agents does not work with the ECM SM Server Installer.

Old download link:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/win-bash/shell-complete/latest/shell.w32-ix86.zip

The Sourceforge.net URL will redirect a user to the new link, but this does not work with the InstallAnywhere installer. The existing GA installer can not be changed. The installer for the next GA release will be modified to use the New URL.

Diagnosing The Problem

The Installer will fail indicating the Source Forge Shell is unavailable.

Resolving The Problem

To successfully install the ECM SM server, manually download the shell.w32-ix86.zip
(Refer to the ECM SM Installation Guide.)

New download link:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/win-bash/files/shell-complete/latest/shell.w32-ix86.zip/download

The user must download the shell.w32-ix86.zip before the installation and copy it to a location accessible by the server where ECM SM is to be installed. During the server installation, the location where the shell.w32-ix86.zip is stored, can be specified. Agent installations are not affected as the agent installation downloads the shell from the ECM SM server.
