Using DB2 compression to reduce the space required by large tables in InfoSphere Information Analyzer version 11.5
When using IBM InfoSphere Information Analyzer to profile large tables, the reference tables that are created in InfoSphere Information Analyzer analysis database require a large amount of space and the database space can be consumed fast. When using DB2, one can enable DB2 compression to reduce the size of tables and the time required to load them.
Note: Licensing of DB2 compression is the responsibility of the customer. If a customer enables IADB compression, neither InfoSphere Information Analyzer nor DB2 checks that the customer is entitled for the compression feature. The default license customers get with the embedded DB2 in InfoSphere Information Server does not include compression.
Resolving the problem
In order to enable DB2 compression, under /opt/IBM/InformationServer/ASBServer/bin please run:
./iisAdmin.sh -set -key com.ibm.iis.ia.server.enableDB2Compression -value true
In order to confirm the change was made, please run the following command:
This will show all the properties that are set. It is a long list, so look for:
If you see DB2 compression was set to true, please restart WebSphere Application Server. This will make DB2 compression take effect.
