Problem

IS 11.5 install error 'Installation data has incompatible version 1.8.2.1; expected 1.7.0. Newer version of the Installation Manager was used on this system'

Cause

The failure occurs during WAS installation. The bundled WAS installer uses Installation Manager 1.7 and the target machine has Installation Manager 1.8 installed. The bundled WAS installer is not compatible with Installation Manager 1.8.

Environment

Tivoli was pre-installed on the system. Tivoli installs Installation Manager 1.8.

Diagnosing The Problem

In the ISInstall log you will see the error:
Installation data has incompatible version 1.8.2.1; expected 1.7.0. Newer version of the Installation Manager was used on this system

Resolving The Problem

Uninstall Installation Manager 1.8 and then install Information Server. You can also pre-install WAS and then install Information Server 11.5 using the pre-installed WAS.
