IBM Cognos Planning 10.1.1 FP6 - Support for Microsoft Excel 2013

Question & Answer

Question

Are there any known issues in IBM Cognos Planning while working with Microsoft Excel 2013?

Answer

IBM Cognos Planning 10.1.1 FP6 now supports Microsoft Excel 2013.
Customer will experience the following differences and limitations when using Excel 2013:

1. Help from the IBM Cognos Planning Analyst Add-in and in the IBM Cognos Planning Contributor Add-in doesn't work.

Customers will experience unexpected behaviour such as window freezes, Excel entering a non-responsive state or crashing when trying to use Help from the ribbon for both of the Add-in. Using the local help files deployed under <plannin_dir>\webcontent\documentation is recommended.

2. When using both Analyst and Contributor add-in at the same time one disappears from the Excel 2013 Add-in tab after closing a workbook.

Customers who use both Cognos Planning Add-ins (installed on the same computer) will observe the second one (second from the top) disappearing from the Excel 2013 ribbon when closing a workbook. This will impede further use of that Add-in's functions. This can be prevented by using only one Add-in at a time by activating/de-activating them from the Excel Options menu or by re-ordering the Add-in menu items before use so as to have the unused Add-in displayed second from the top
