Troubleshooting
Problem
In Tivoli Integrated Portal, when trying to access the Integrated Solutions Console (ISC), the below error message is being displayed, and the page cannot be accessed.
Symptom
The following error message is being displayed on the left hand side pane:
"SRVE0260E: The server cannot use the error page specified for your application to handle the Original Exception printed below..."
Error Code: 500
[11/19/14 10:30:51:349 ART] 00000047 servlet E com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.servlet.ServletWrapper service SRVE0068E: Uncaught exception created in one of the service methods of the servlet /secure/isclite/tiles/iscnavigatorLayout.jsp in application isclite. Exception created : java.lang.NullPointerException
at com.ibm.isclite.runtime.navigation.util.NavigationUtil.getTitle(NavigationUtil.java:95)
Cause
The installation of the ISC Admin console is corrupted, directories and files are missing.
Environment
Connected to TIP, trying to access ISC
Diagnosing The Problem
Check if the resources directory exist under:
<TIP_HOME>/systemApps/isclite.ear/isclite.war/WEB-INF/classes/com/ibm/ws/console/core/resources/
and this directory contains the following ConsoleAppResources property files:
ConsoleAppResources_cs.properties ConsoleAppResources_it.properties
ConsoleAppResources_ro.properties ConsoleAppResources_de.properties
ConsoleAppResources_ja.properties ConsoleAppResources_ru.properties
ConsoleAppResources_en.properties ConsoleAppResources_ko.properties
ConsoleAppResources_zh.properties ConsoleAppResources_en_US.properties
ConsoleAppResources_pl.properties ConsoleAppResources_zh_TW.properties
ConsoleAppResources_es.properties ConsoleAppResources.properties
ConsoleAppResources_fr.properties ConsoleAppResources_pt_BR.properties
ConsoleAppResources_hu.properties ConsoleAppResources_pt.properties
Resolving The Problem
Please follow these steps if the core and resources directories are missing :
1) On your server, please create the two missing directories (make sure user/group match directory structure:
<TIP_HOME>/systemApps/isclite.ear/isclite.war/WEB-INF/classes/com/ibm/ws/console/core/resources
2) Copy the ConsoleAppResources property files from a TIP server with the same version, or restore from backup.
3) Restart the TIP server and test if you are able the access the ISC Admin Console.
