Problem
ANR3114E LDAP error 118 loading SSL library during server initialization.
Symptom
The following messages preceding a failed Tivoli Storage Manager server start:
ANR3100I Initializing LDAP directory services.
ANR3114E LDAP error 118 (The SSL library cannot be loaded.) occurred during ldap_ssl_client_init.
ANR3116E LDAP SSL/TLS error 118 (Unknown SSL error) occurred during ldap_ssl_client_init.
ANR3103E Failure occurred while initializing LDAP directory services.
Cause
Invalid GSKIT library configuration.

Resolving The Problem
There may be multiple causes of this error, however, one known cause is that the Tivoli Storage Manager is not properly configured to locate the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) library (gskit).
In order for the SSL library to be properly located during Tivoli Storage Manager server startup, the path has to be defined within an environment variable. This is configured slightly differently on different operating systems:
Step 3: AIX: Creating the server instance
Step 3: HP-UX: Creating the server instance
Step 3: Linux: Creating the server instance.
Step 3: Oracle Solaris: Creating the server instance
To resolve the problem, verify that the gskit path is properly defined within the environment variables in the files specific to your operating system.
For example, on Linux, the "~/sqllib/userprofile" file should have an environment variable called LD_LIBRARY_PATH defined that looks similar to the following:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/dbbkapi:/usr/local/ibm/gsk8_64/lib64:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
If any changes are made, ensure that the Tivoli Storage Manager server (dsmserv) and DB2 (db2sysc) processes are no longer active, log in as the instance owner (re-log in if you are already logged in), and attempt to start the server again.
