Troubleshooting
Problem
PTFs UI23820, UI23826, and the relevant NLS PTF (UI23821, UI23822, UI23823, UI23824 or UI23825) must be installed correctly on the 9.2 release of TWSz before migration can be done to the IWSz 9.3 release.
Resolving The Problem
The remote hot standby APARs (PI28024, PI28025, PI28027, PI28035) make some changes to the layout of some of the TWSz/IWSz files. (IWSz or IBM Workload Scheduler for z/OS is the product name beginning with the 9.3 release) The 9.3 migration program (EQQICTOP) assumes that these changes are in place if a migration from 9.2 to 9.3 is being performed. This is NOT applicable to any earlier TWSz releases (8.5.0, 8,5,1, 8,6, 9,1) . Failure to have the PTFs listed above applied to TWSz 9.2 can cause "unpredictable results" if a migration to IWSz 9.3 is performed.
To avoid this, install the PTFs listed above on TWSz 9.2 and perform the necessary ACTION HOLD steps prior to shutting down the 9.2 TWSz environment in order to migrate to IWSz 9.3.
There is no need to actually implement the remote hot standby configuration or use any of the new parameters or files that are created by these APARs.
The following should be sufficient:
(1) Apply the PTFs listed above
(2) These PTFs change the SSX control block adding two new
queues. For this reason, in order to apply correctly the fix
customer needs to reload the new EQQSSCML, either doing a
system IPL or using the init statement BUILDSSX and SSCMNAME.
(3) After restarting TWSz 9.2 with the new version of EQQSSCML, it is necessary
to run LTP batch modify and DP batch extend or replan in order to align JT and LTP and CP headers with information needed by the new feature.
(4) There are other ACTION HOLDS listed in PTF UI23820 but these only need to be
performed if the remote hot standby feature is going to be used at the TWSz 9.2 level.
Note that the EQQICTOP program (SEQQSAMP member EQQICNVS) will not produce any error or
warning messages if the migration from 9.2 to 9.3 is done WITHOUT the required PTF being installed.
However, APAR PI42640 will add these comment to the EQQICNVS member of SEQQSAMP as a
reminder:

The PTFs for PI42640 are not yet available at the time of this publication (July 14, 2015). This
technote will be updated when these PTFs become available.
