DESCRIPTION
: IBM Domino Web server configured for Webmail is vulnerable to cross-site scripting, caused by improper validation of user-supplied input. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability using a specially-crafted URL to execute script in a victim's Web browser within the security context of the hosting Web site, once the URL is clicked. An attacker could use this vulnerability to steal the victim's cookie-based authentication credentials. Note that Domino servers configured for iNotes are not vulnerable to this attack.

Affected Products and Versions

  • IBM Domino 9.0.1 Fix Pack 3 (plus Interim Fixes) and earlier
  • IBM Domino 8.5.3 Fix Pack 6 Interim Fix 7 and earlier
  • All 9.0 and 8.5.x releases of IBM Domino prior to those listed above

Remediation/Fixes

A fix for this issue, tracked as SPR# KLYH9WYPR5, is introduced both in IBM Domino 9.0.1 Fix Pack 4 and in Domino 8.5.3. Fix Pack 6 Interim Fix 8.


Customers running earlier 9.0.x or 8.5.x streams may either use the workaround listed below or contact IBM Support to inquire about the possibility of obtaining a hotfix for your environment. Reference the SPR listed above.

Workarounds and Mitigations

To work around this attack in all affected releases, configure browser users to access Domino mail using iNotes. For reference, see the IBM Domino Administrator Help topic for Configuring iNotes.
