Information to assist with implementation of GDPS APARs impacting GDPS-provided health check modules

Question & Answer

Question

Client requested additional information to assist with implementation of GDPS APARs that impact Health Check functionality provided by GDPS.

Answer

GDPS Health Check modules VPC8CRxx, VPC8C0xx and VPC8M001 are fetched by z/OS Health Checker address space and never referred by any GDPS NetView® address space.

In case of GDPS maintenance for this set of modules different actions are required:

1) Ensure the proper LNKLST library concatenation and refresh LLA to ensure library containing any new updates to SGDPLOAD are active in LNKLST (D PROG,LNKLST to confirm).

2a) If module updated by GDPS APAR is VPC8C0xx or VPC8M001, refresh the Health Check z/OS Health Checker address space. Action to do so will differ depending on GDPS release:

From GDPS Health Check panel (main panel "H"), select action I (Install) for individual check refresh or command '5' to refresh all GDPS Health Check at one time.

2b) If module updated by GDPS APAR is VPC8CRxx, refresh the Health Check z/OS Exit module name. Action to do so will differ depending on GDPS release:

From GDPS Health Check panel (main panel "H"), select action I (Install) for individual check refresh or command '5' to refresh all GDPS Health Check at one time.
