The Operations Center installation may stop at the prerequisite validation phase reporting insufficient memory available.
Diagnosing The Problem
Running the installation of the Tivoli Storage Manager Operations Center via the Installation Manager, it could report the following warning:
=====> IBM Installation Manager> Install> Prerequisites
Validation results:

-----> [N]
The warning reports an incorrect amount of memory required.
The Operations Center Hardware requirements for memory, goes from a minimum of 1GB for version 6.4 and 4GB for version 7.1 and later, as per the following link:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21653418
Resolving The Problem
To allow the installation to continue and only if memory satisfies the correct minimum requirement, bypass the memory check by following these instructions:
- Edit the file IBMIM.ini available under the directory "<IIM_install_dir>/eclipse/"
For example on Windows, it would be:
C:\Program Files\IBM\InstallationManager\eclipse\IBMIM.ini
(could be Program Files(x86) also)
-Add the following option:
"-DBYPASS_TSM_REQ_CHECKS=true"
to the end of the file.
Then test a new installation.
