Summary

IBM Domino contains a remote code execution vulnerability in processing GIF files. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute code or crash the server. The fix for this issue is available for download and is planned to be incorporated in all upcoming Interim Fixes, Fix Packs and Maintenance Releases.

    • All 9.0 and 8.5.x releases of IBM Domino prior to those listed above

Remediation/Fixes

This issue is tracked as SPR# KLYH9T7NT9 and is fixed starting in the following releases:

IBM Domino 9.0.1 Fix Pack 3 Interim Fix 2


IBM Domino 8.5.3 Fix Pack 6 Interim Fix 4.
Eligible customers running earlier 9.0.x or 8.5.x streams may request a hotfix through IBM Support.

Workarounds and Mitigations

Customers using mail hygiene and protection software may configure those tools to strip out offending attachments.
