Installation Planning

Please review the IBM Traveler Product Documentation links below prior to installation.
Important for standalone setups
When upgrading to IBM Traveler the defrag function may run automatically during the first start of the IBM Traveler server. This will happen any time the database schema is updated as a result of an upgrade. The server will start normally once the defragmentation is completed. Depending on database size and system capabilities, the defragmentation may take longer than 30 minutes. Please plan this time into any scheduled maintenance window for upgrade. It is recommended to manually run the database defrag approximately once a month for enhanced performance in a standalone system. Consult your DB administrator for recommended maintenance if using an Enterprise DB.

Domino Requirements

IBM Traveler requires Domino 8.5.3.x, 9.0.0.x, or (or later) . We recommend running Domino 9.0.1 to take advantage of all latest fixes and features.

Note: If installing on a Domino 8.5.3 server it is required to also install Domino 8.5.3 Upgrade Pack 1 if not already installed.

See the Detailed System Requirements for more information.

Installation Instructions

IBM Traveler installation instructions are the same regardless if this is a major release or a Fix Pack. Please follow the documented installation instructions for your platform.

These limitations are specific to IBM Traveler For a complete list of limitations, see the limitation sections of the product documentation.

BlackBerry devices prior to 10.3.1 do not support syncing the Trash Folder Upgrade to the latest BlackBerry firmware to sync Trash.
Syncing ghosted calendar entries is disabled when running on a Domino 8.5.3 server. APIs to support syncing ghosted calendar entries are not available in the Domino 8.5.3 product. Upgrade Domino to a 9.0.x or later version for ghosting support.
IBM Verse Client for iOS devices is not supported if running on a Domino 8.5.3 server. The IBM Verse client for iOS when it becomes available is only supported when running on a 9.0 or later Domino server.
Attendee status may show as "No Response" when rescheduling a single instance of a repeating meeting. Invitees can respond to the invitation again to refresh the attendee status.
If upgrading the Domino server to a new major release, for example 8.5.3.x to 9.0.1.x then it is necessary to re-run the IBM Traveler install application. The IBM Traveler installer will detect the new Domino version and install the proper binary files. Use the current or later level of IBM Traveler installer to maintain the correct version. If running a Hot Fix, use the appropriate binaries supplied in the Hot Fix that match the new Domino server version.
