Problem
The "IBM Tivoli Data Protection for VMware -
Symptom
A "Security Alert" window appears with the following warning text :
The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site
For example :
Although the certificate is imported, each subsequent access to the plug-in logs the same message.
Cause
The plug-in was registered with an incorrect host name.
Resolving The Problem
To resolve this issue, you must unregister the plug-in from the vCenter and register it again with the correct host name. Complete these steps:
- Stop the "Data Protection for VMware Web Server Service" service on Windows.
sc stop TSMVEWebServer
- Unregister the vCenter plug-in from the vCenter.
From the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Tivoli\TDPVMware\VMwarePlugin" directory, run the unregister_vcenter.cmd. The command has the following syntax :
unregister_vcenter.cmd <vCenter Address> <vCenter UserID> <vCenter Password>
For example :
unregister_vcenter.cmd vcenter.xxx.yyy.com vcenterid mypwd
- Register the vCenter plug-in with the correct address and host name.
From the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Tivoli\TDPVMware\VMwarePlugin" directory, run the register_vcenter.cmd. The command has the following syntax :
register_vcenter.cmd <vCenter Address> <vCenter UserID> <vCenter Password> <GUI Web Server Port> <Local Host FQDN or IP Address>
For example :
register_vcenter.cmd vcenter.xxx.yyy.com vcenterid mypwd 9081 vcenter
- Start the "Data Protection for VMware Web Server Service" service on Windows.
sc start TSMVEWebServer
