Tivoli EIF Probe : Using SSL

Question & Answer

Question

nco_eif_mux : Can you use SSL with the Tivoli EIF Probe?

Cause

The Tivoli EIF Probe does not support SSL data sources

Answer

The Tivoli EIF Probe does not support SSL clients.

In order to send data securely using SSL to the Tivoli EIF probe, the Tivoli EIF MUX must be used.

The EIF SDK includes the nco_eif_mux software along with the posteifmsg program and example EIF applications.

The Tivoli Netcool Supports Guide to the EIF SDK SSL RCV1 Example is provided here to illustrate how to configure and test SSL connectivity.

In order to use SSL the GSKit 7 software needs to be installed.

The Tivoli EIF MUX can then be configured and used to forward SSL EIF messages to the Tivoli EIF Probe locally.

Note : The Tivoli EIF MUX is a single threaded application
