Problem
The following error is encounter in Performance Modeler when trying to redeploy an application after changing the method to enforce rights option: The application security method cannot be changed once application rights have been deployed. In some cases it might be desired to switch the application from cell security to element security after upgrading from TM1 10.2 to TM1 10.2.2.
Cause
In TM1 10.2 cell security was the only possible method to enforce rights on an application. In TM1 10.2.2 an option to set the method to enforce rights with either cell security or element security was added. The element security method is similar to the method used to enforce rights in TM1 Applications 10.1.1.
You cannot switch the method to enforce rights if the application already has rights applied.

Resolving The Problem
To work around this error and change the method to enforce rights you will need to remove the application then import it without rights. You can then modify the method to enforce rights in Performance Modeler and import the rights.
Steps:
1 - Export the application rights to a txt file from Performance Modeler of the manage rights page in the TM1 Application web portal. The screenshot below highlights the rights export option
2 - Close Performance Modeler.
3 - Export the application from the TM1 Applications web portal
4 - Remove the application from the TM1 Applications web portal
5 - Import the the application .zip file created in step 2 with the import security option disabled
6 - Launch Performance modeler and set the enforce rights method option in the application properties to the desired method (Cell security or Element security
7 - Redeploy the application
8 - Import and apply the application rights form the txt file created in step 1
9 - Activate the application from the TM1 Applications web portal
