Question

How do you configure a SUSE SLES12 system to install and run IBM Rational ClearCase?

Cause

ClearCase requires some system packages which may not be installed on your SLES12 system. These packages must be installed before you install and configure ClearCase.

Answer

Use the system installer or ask your system's administrator to install the required packages for you.
List of required packages:

  • "x11" (group)
  • "Basis-Devel" (group)
  • "32bit" (group)
  • nfs-kernel-server
  • kernel-devel
  • libncurses5-32bit
  • libncurses6-32bit
  • libMrm4-32bit
  • libXm4-32bit
  • libXp6-32bit
  • libmount1-32bit

Example using the "zypper" package manager

Open a terminal and type the following two command lines (each command in a single line):

% sudo zypper install -t pattern x11 Basis-Devel 32bit

% sudo zypper install nfs-kernel-server kernel-devel libncurses5-32bit libncurses6-32bit libMrm4-32bit libXm4-32bit libXp6-32bit libmount1-32bit
