Technical Description:
Unexpected power loss to the Guardium Hardware appliance could cause the following incorrect RAID controller error message to be displayed.
Memory/Battery problems were detected. The adapter has recovered, but cached data was lost. Press any key to continue, or 'C' to load the configuration utility
This error message is incorrect and there are no issues with the system. Clearing the error message will allow the system to boot properly.
How to verify whether your system is impacted:
Systems that have ServeRAID firmware 24.2.1-0027 or earlier could be affected by this issue.
Work-around:
When this issue occurs, the following message is displayed:
Once this error is displayed, it must be cleared. To clear the message:
1.
Press the Enter key to begin to clear the message.
Note: If a UEFI/BIOS Password is requested, the default password is the hardware System X serial Number on the MTM/SN label. The MTM/SN Label will contain 7914 AC1 as the MTM and the following number with be the Serial Number.
You will be prompted with
- Please type in your data
Type in any letter that is different than “C” and then press Enter. This will clear the message and allow the system to fully boot.
You will receive a message stating
- Critical Message handling completed. Please exit
Press the ESC key a number of times until you are back to the UEFI/BIOS screen.
Select “Exit Setup” and press the “Y” key at the confirmation dialog box to reboot the system.
To avoid this incorrect error message, power down the system using the cli command
- stop system
Affected Guardium versions:
The following Guardium Hardware appliance based on the System X x3550 M4 models are affected:
– Guardium x2132 Collector and Aggregator
– Guardium x2164 Collector and Aggregator
– Guardium x3064 Collector and Aggregator
Fixed in version:
A fix has now been implemented and is available on Fix Central - Version 24.2.1-0052 for M5200 Series
