Clearing Inventory Reservation Using "Issue Current Item" Option

Question & Answer

Question

Should issuing the current item clear a reservation?

Answer

In previous versions of Maximo reservations would be cleared when the item was issued from various applications. As of Maximo 7.5 there has been a design change and you now need to make a system property change for this to happen. Follow the steps below to make the system change as needed.

Here you can see a reservation has been made against this particular item.:

Normally the issue would have to be done from inventory usage or issue and transfers to clear the existing reservation. To be able to clear the reservation using the "Issue Current Item" option from the Inventory application we have to change a system property value. From the System Properties application bring up the mxe.app.inventor.updateReservations:

The default value for the field will be 0 and you need to set it to 1. Once you add the value of 1 in the global value field, press save. After the save has been completed, place a check mark in the check box and perform a live refresh. Once the live refresh has completed, you can now use the "Issue Current Item" function to clear material reservations made against work orders. When issuing the item, make sure to enter the work order number, quantity and all other information before pressing OK.

After you are returned to the Inventory application you will now see that the "Quantity Currently Reserved" field is now 0.
