Question
Is there a flag or configuration necessary to initialize the Asset Topology Viewer?
Cause
On a new installation of Maximo, or on any Maximo environment which does not currently have any asset records in the database, the Topology tab will not be displayed in the Assets application. Additionally, the Show in Asset Business View check box will not be visible on the Classifications tab
in the Classifications application. These conditions are expected and will be corrected when the configurations and conditions described below are applied.
Answer
Configure Security
- Go To Security | Security Groups
- Open the record for the Security Group(s) that will be able to view/use the Asset Topology Viewer
- On the Applications tab click to highlight Assets
- Verify that this Security Group has the "Read access to Asset" option checked at a minimum
- In the bottom section of the Options for Assets section click Filter
- In the Description field enter "topology" and press Enter
- Click the Grant Access checkbox for the "Topology Viewer Presentation" option
- In the Description field enter "relationship" and press Enter
- Click the Grant Access checkbox for the "View Asset Relationship History" option
- Save the record
- The members of this Security Group must log out and then log back in to acquire these options
Populate the Database with Asset Records
Once the appropriate security is assigned, there must be at least one asset record created to see the above components displayed in the Assets and Classifications applications
