Transformer unable to log into Cognos Connection to select package or report data sources

Troubleshooting


Problem

When creating a new Transformer model or trying to work with an existing model, user is prompted for Cognos login. After entering valid login credentials the login dialog is redisplayed, looping login. No errors are encountered and Cognos Configuration for the Transformer installation tests and saves successfully.

Symptom

Issue persists despite these troubleshooting tests:

- Gateway URI and Dispatcher URI specified in Cognos Connection work when tested in an IE browser

- Reconfiguring the Gateway URI to use the Dispatcher URI

- Recreating cryptographic keys on the Transformer installation

- Entering invalid login returns an invalid login message

- No errors appear in Transformer log file nor in Cognos Server log files

- CAM trace on BI Server does not show any errors

Resolving The Problem

The Gateway URI in Cognos configuration was set with the fully qualified server name. The Cognos Gateway uses an alias server name.

Reconfigure the Gateway URI in Cognos Configuration for the Transformer installation to use the Alias gateway server name.
