SAzOS Automation Agent stuck during system shutdown

Troubleshooting

Problem

When trying to shutdown all applications and subsystems on a MVS system/LPAR, including the SAzOS Agent NetView, the NetView does not shutdown as expected.

Symptom

Shutdown of the system/LPAR appears to hang. A 'D A,L' shows the NetView running the SAzOS Agent has still active.

Cause

The NetView requires some JES2 functions to be available to shutdown cleanly. When JES2 is shutdown with the 'MVS $P JES2,ABEND' command, it takes away some of the necessary JES2 related capabilities NetView requires to terminate the SAzOS Agent.

Diagnosing The Problem

Issue the "D A,L" and check if the SAzOS Agent NetView stills shows up as an "active" Address Space.
Use the SAzOS ISPF Dialogs to check the SHUTNORM commands for JES2 to see if there is a PASS that has MVS $P JES2,ABEND as the command for the pass.

Resolving The Problem

Change the SHUTNORM command for JES2 -
MVS $P JES2,ABEND
to
MVS $P JES2
This will allow the SAzOS Agent NetView to terminate as expected.
