Question & Answer
Question
How is the Ping Probe configured?
Answer
The Ping Probe uses a file containing a list of hosts to be pinged.
Refer to the attached Support's guide to the Ping Probe to best understand the probes configuration.
Example Ping Probe property file settings are:
NoNameResolution : 1
Poll : 600
PingFileCheck : 60
Interval : 100
MaxPingBurst : 1
MultipleUnreachable : 1
PacketSize : 64
Retry : 1
TimeOut : 2500
Trip : 2500
# EOF
Increasing the MaxPingBurst allows more hosts to be pinged in one go.
The equation that governs the probe property settings:
(((number of hosts) * (trip time) ) / MaxPingBurst ) + (((average failures) * (Retry * TimeOut)) / MaxPingBurst)
