EWTROPTS parameter HOLDJOB(YES) not working as expected when using z/OS 2.1

Troubleshooting

Problem

If HOLDJOB(YES) is used to cause TWS z/OS to release all submitted jobs under z/OS 2.1 ONLY, the jobs will not be held until an APAR/PTF is applied

Resolving The Problem

UPDATED October 27, 2015: PTFs are available

Changes in the interface between TWS z/OS and JES2 at the ZOS0201 level ( ZOSV2R1M0 ) have caused the HOLDJOB(YES) parameter for a tracker to stop working as expected - that is, jobs are NOT actually held and then released with a $AJ command. The default value for the HOLDJOB parameter is NO, so HOLDJOB(YES) must be explicitly coded in the EWTROPTS statement in the tracker parms.

If using HOLDJOB(YES) please avoid migrating to z/OS 2.1 until the fix for APAR PI24927 is installed..

The PTFs for PI24927 are:

UI23864 8.5.0
UI23865 8.5.1
UI23866 8.6.0
UI23867 9.1.0
UI23868 9.2.0

For TWSz 9.3.0 the fix is in the base code (no PTF is needed).

Note this affects all releases of TWS z/OS ( COMPID 5697WSZ01) but ONLY the 2.1 release of z/OS. The fix for PI24927 may be installed on any z/OS release however.
