Troubleshooting
Problem
FlashCopy Manager 3.2.x returns error FMM1040E when invoking DB2 snapshot backups on Linux platform.
Symptom
When invoking the command "backup database <dbname> <options>.... use snapshot" on Linux platform where the FlashCopy manager 3.2.x is installed for managing backups of IBM DB2 the following error could be returned in the logs:
DB 09:46:23 (7f49621fc700) FMM1040E An exception occurred in the operating system adapter component.
10 exception text: Type: '<class' xsf.host.storage.filesystem.errors.
MountDeviceNotBelongToAnyLVMError '>',
11 Value: 'Retrieve the logical volume mount unit failed "/dev/testfs1":
12 Mount unit does not belong to any Logical Volume Manager,
Traceback: '<traceback object at 0x7fc880bc0758>'.
and the DB2 backup fails.
Cause
This is caused because the Linux platform has been configured to manage the filesystem with LVM and not LVM2.
Diagnosing The Problem
LVM is not supported with FlashCopy Manager on Linux.
