NullPointerExceptions with Oracle DB after upgrade to Rational Team Concert 5.0

Problem(Abstract)

Data migration from IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC) v4.x to v5.0 with Oracle DB yields error “Initializing Load Wizard" and unusable SCM functions.

Symptom

Many operations on workspaces and streams result in a NullPointerException. Among others, these operations include loading or deleting a workspace, and showing repository files in a component.

Error when loading:


'Initializing Load Wizard' has encountered a problem.
An internal error occurred during: "Initializing Load Wizard".
java.lang.NullPointerException

Workspaces and streams become disconnected from internal configuration information during data migration.


Cause

This issue had been reported as a defect which can be tracked in the following Jazz.net work item and in APAR PI20749.

Resolving the problem

If you have already migrated your database or plan to migrate from CLM 4.0.x to CLM 5.0, contact IBM Rational Technical Support for a hotfix. Quote APAR PI20749 mentioned in the cause section.
