Problem(Abstract)

Tivoli Storage Manager server database restore fails with the following message after the volume is mounted for restore :
ANR2969E Database restore terminated. DB2 sqlcode: -2033. DB2 sqlerrmc: 10.

Symptom

Following errors will be seen in the foreground during a restore DB command :


ANR2969E Database restore terminated. DB2 sqlcode: -2033. DB2 sqlerrmc: 10.
ANR2032E RESTORE DB: Command failed - internal server error detected.

Cause

Permission issue


Diagnosing the problem

Examine the db2diag.log file for errors during the restore attempt. Look for messages similar to the following :

In this message, it shows a TSM API return code 106 is received. The return code translates to the
following :
DSM_RC_ACCESS_DENIED 106 /* denied due to improper permission


Resolving the problem

In this case, the return code 106 was received because the ERRORLOGNAME option was a using a file name and the Tivoli Storage Manager server instance did not have permissions to it.

Verify the filename specified with the ERRORLOGNAME option (dsm.opt for Windows and dsm.sys for UNIX) and make sure that it has proper permissions for the Tivoli Storage Manager server instance userid.
