While GTP : Unable to collect error information from underlying component

Troubleshooting

Problem

Go To Production failed : Unable to collect error information from underlying component

Cause

One possible cause is a corruption in the Analyst libraries, probably due to some modifications / object suppressions that went wrong.

Resolving The Problem

Here is how to troubleshoot :

1- Make a copy of the main Analyst library used by Contributor (library containing cubes that appear in Contributor)

2- In that library, using menu File / Library / Objects, delete all D-links (you may have to delete some Reports and Macros before you can delete some of these d-links)

3- In the CAC, execute Synchronize with Analyst

4- Retry GTP : it is probable that it will work.

5- If previous step works, then restore a copy of the original library and delete just a half of the d-links, re-synchronize, re-GTP, etc... Do this again and again until you can determine which d-link is the cause of that issue.

6- Once it has been determined there is an issue with one particular d-link, open it in Analyst and verify:
- if there is no dimension appearing twice in the Source or Target.
- if it is possible to modify each of the dimension mappings without crashing Analyst

7- Just reselecting the Source or Target cube and then remapping should be sufficient to solve the problem.

In case step 4 is not working, then use the same dichotomy method on the list of cubes, as in step 5.
After having determined which cube is causing the issue, it may be necessary to apply this dichotomy method to the elements of the dimensions this cube is based on. Some special characters in some d-list elements or object names may cause this issue too.
