How to resume Automation after replying NOSTART to the AOF603D

Troubleshooting

Problem

Have replied NOSTART to the AOF603D message, and can't get automation running again. No resources are being started or stopped automatically.

Symptom

No resources are being started or stopped by SA Automation. Recycling the SA Agent does not help.

Cause

The NOSTART option puts the Agent in SUSPENDED status. This tells the automation manager to suspend sending orders to start or stop resources that are hosted by the systems that are specified with the SYSTEMS parameter.

Diagnosing The Problem

Use the INGAMS command to display the Agent status. If the Agent shows in SUSPENDED status, this is the cause of the problem.

Resolving The Problem

The RESTART command checks a specified subsystem or all subsystems that are defined to SA z/OS on a particular system, and sets the HOLD flag to No. This will allow the Manager to resume sending orders to stop or stop resources. This will also put the Agent back into READY status.
