Question
Client was adding their own local SDF panel element to the SAzOS SDF configuration, and received unexpected error message AOFS519I when attempting to activate the new panel. Client requested assistance to resolve the error.
Cause
client not following documented SDF panel setup requirements
Answer
This applies to all current releases of SA z/OS, regardless of whether client is trying to introduce a STATIC or DYNAMIC format new panel of their own creation.
Client had defined the following as the first few lines of their new SDF panel (for an additional screen for their own purposes, not provided by base SA z/OS SDF samples):
P(WORKLOAD,*,*,SYSTEM,&SDFROOT.MAIN, ,*,*)
TF(01,01,05,W,N)
TT(Plex1)
{other elements of the panel definition not relevant}
Upon activating this new panel (and related TREE definitions), customer observed:
AOFS519I Specified operand "01" invalid for "WORKLOAD-TF(2)".
AOFS014I Panel WORKLOAD has not been added.
Solution to this problem can be found in the SA z/OS Programmers Reference documentation for the TEXTFIELD (TF) definition specifications (see URL listed in this document).
Under "Restrictions and Limitations" at that reference:
A start_line and start_position parameter value combination of 1,1 is not allowed.
Once client adjust the TF entry so it did not start line 1, column 1, then the problem was resolved.
