What are the configuration maximums for the ITM VMware VI agent?
Answer
The VWware VI agent will monitor up to the maximum capabilities of VMware vCenter version 5.0 / 5.5 that supports 1000 ESX Server per vCenter.
The heap size for agent's data provider needs to be adjusted based on the size of the environment. The heap requirements are as follows:
- For about 100 ESX server a heap size of 2 GB
- For about 200 ESX server a heap size of 4 GB
- For about 400 ESX server a heap size of 8 GB
It is advisable to monitor one vCenter with one instance of the VMware VI agent. Avoid configuring additional instances that will consume more than half of the total available heap space on the system.
