Mustgather: Version imports result in import processes that remain in a "Waiting" state

Troubleshooting

Problem

Attempts to import new versions (manually or automatically) result in import processes' remaining in a "Waiting" state, when you use IBM UrbanCode Deploy.

Symptom

The version import processes remain in a "Waiting" state.

In UrbanCode Deploy, you can see several running imports (some several hours or days old) in a "Waiting" state under Home > Settings > Automation > Running Version Imports.

Diagnosing The Problem

Tracing cannot be enabled to understand what happened to an import already stuck in a "Waiting" state.  But to diagnose reoccurring issues with version imports getting stuck in a Waiting state, enable these traces in Home > Settings > System > Logging:
log4j.logger.com.urbancode.ds.subsys.deploy.repo=TRACE

log4j.logger.com.urbancode.ds.subsys.synchronization=TRACE

When you are ready to remove the tracing, set the trace level to INFO and save before you remove the tracing from the UI:

log4j.logger.com.urbancode.ds.subsys.deploy.repo=INFO
log4j.logger.com.urbancode.ds.subsys.synchronization=INFO

If you remove the lines without first changing them to OFF and saving the change, the tracing does not stop until the UCD Server is stopped and started.

Resolving The Problem

In some cases, older failed imports can block latter imports from completing.  From the UI, cancel older imports stuck in a "Waiting" state to see whether cancelling the imports allows future imports to complete.
