Editing a source member in RDi results in error "RSEF1002"

Troubleshooting


Problem

Attempts to edit a source member in IBM Rational Developer for System i (RDi) results in the error "RSEF1002".

Symptom

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Select a member In the RDi RSE view.
  2. Open the member in the editor.

    The file fails to open in the editor and you receive the following error message:

    "RSEF1002 Operation failed.  File system input or output error".

Cause

The file specified is no longer in the specified directory, or the directory is not accessible.

Resolving The Problem

Clearing the cache will resolve this problem.

Clear the cache from both the Remote Systems cached files and the IBM i cache:

Clear Remote systems cached files

  1. Click Window > Preferences
  2. Expand Remote Systems
  3. Click File Cache
  4. Click Clear Cached Files

Clear IBM i cache
  1. Click Window > Preferences
  2. Expand Remote Systems
  3. Expand IBM i
  4. Click Cache
  5. Click Clear Cache
