DB2 crashes on Vintella Authentication Services function

Technote (FAQ)

Question

Why does DB2 crash when using Vintella Authentication Services (VAS) plug-ins for authentication ?

Cause

The following db2diag.log messages can be dumped during the crash:
2013-09-24-22.41.03.152930-300 I4114158E482 LEVEL: Warning

Additionally, the stack of the failing thread would be as follows, where top most function is a VAS function:

<POFDisassembly>
address: 0x00002B744493D110 ; dladdress: 0x00002B7444810000 ; offset
in lib: 0x000000000012D110 ; (/opt/quest/lib64/libvtcachesql.so.1)
0x00002B744493D110 : 488B00483B45F875

<StackTrace>
...
vassym_sqlite3_close + 0x0148
vassql_deinit + 0x00df
...
libvascache_internal_deinit + 0x0030
</StackTrace>

These indicate that the crash is due to a failure in VAS libraries and not within DB2 code.
