VULNERABILITY DETAILS

The following information was provided by Ruby on Rails. In the case of IBM Security Network Protection System, the Local Management Interface can be affected by the vulnerabilities.

CVE-ID: CVE-2013-4492

DESCRIPTION:

The i18n gem internationalization package for Ruby on Rails is vulnerable to cross-site scripting, caused by improper validation of user-supplied input by exceptions.rb. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability using MissingTranslation messages to execute script in a victim's Web browser within the security context of the hosting Web site, once the URL is clicked. An attacker could use this vulnerability to steal the victim's cookie-based authentication credentials.

The attack does not require local network access or authentication but specialized knowledge and techniques are required. An exploit would not impact the availability of the system or the confidentiality of information, however the integrity of data could be compromised.
