Cannot find DB2 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition Terabyte license for DB2 10.1

Troubleshooting

Problem

DB2 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition Terabyte Option has been purchased and can be found on Passport Advantage, but only the license for 10.5 is available for download. There are no previous versions available to obtain the DB2 10.1 version of the license file.

Cause

DB2 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition Terabyte licensing is a new licensing type in DB2 10.5. In DB2 10.1, only PVU and USER based licensing is available.

Resolving The Problem

If DB2 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition PVU or USER options are available in Passport Advantage (part numbers below), these can be applied to the current DB2 10.1 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition installation.

CIEI4ML - IBM DB2 10.1 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition - PVU Option Quick Start and Activation Multiplatform Multilingual

CIEI3ML - IBM DB2 10.1 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition Authorized User Single Install Option Quick Start and Activation Multiplatform Multilingual

Otherwise, if Terabyte licensing is desired on DB2 10.1, the part number CIE53ML can be downloaded, which is:

CIE53ML - IBM InfoSphere Warehouse Advanced Enterprise Edition - Terabyte Option - Quick Start and Activation V10.1 for Linux, UNIX and Windows Multilingual

This can also be found by selecting the DB2 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition Terabyte option in Passport advantage and expand the the section for "Associated products included at no additional charge".

Extracting the package will contain a file named "iwaee_tb.lic". Apply it using "db2licm -a iwaee_tb.lic" on top the existing DB2 Enterprise Server Edition 10.1 installation.

The result will look as follows:
> db2licm -l
Product name: "Infosphere Warehouse Advanced
Enterprise Edition"
License type: "Terabyte"
Expiry date: "Permanent"
Product identifier: "iwaee"
Version information: "10.1"
Features:

All the features are listed in the left most column of InfoSphere Warehouse 10.1 components, by edition will be available for use.

Be aware that Merge Backup, High Performance Unload and Recovery Expert are not part of DB2 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition 10.5. If they are used in 10.1 and are needed after moving to 10.5, the Advanced Recovery Feature will need to be purchased.
