Abstract

Install Cognos Business Intelligence 10.1 Interim Fixes for Security Exposure to resolve security vulnerabilities in Rational Reporting for Development Intelligence (RRDI) 2.0, 2.0.0.1, 2.0.1, 2.0.3, 2.0.4 and Rational Insight 1.1.1, 1.1.1.1, 1.1.1.2. These security vulnerabilities are related to the Oracle Critical Patch Updates (CPU) June 2013.

Procedure:
Note: The following steps assume that your WAS profile is named "RationalReporting". Make appropriate adjustments to the steps if it is named differently.


RRDI 2.0.x (2.0, 2.0.0.1, 2.0.1, 2.0.3, 2.0.4)

  1. Disable SSL on the report server.

    Note: This step is only necessary if you had explicitly changed the default HTTP URIs in Cognos Configuration to HTTPS. See Enabling secure sockets layer (SSL) for the report server for more details.

  2. Uninstall the current IBM Cognos Web application. For the detailed steps, see Uninstall the IBM Cognos Web application deployed to the WebSphere Application Server.

  3. Stop the RationalReporting WAS profile.

  4. Download IBM Cognos Business Intelligence 10.1 Interim Fixes for Security Exposure for your platform and unzip its content to a local directory on the report server, for example <CognosPatchDir>.

  5. Navigate to <CognosPatchDir> and start the installation wizard:
    • For 32-bit Windows, run <CognosPatchDir>\win32\issetup.exe
    • For 64-bit Windows, run <CognosPatchDir>\winx64h\issetup.exe
    • For 32-bit Linux, run <CognosPatchDir>/linuxi38632/issetup
    • For 64-bit Linux, run <CognosPatchDir>/linuxi38664/issetup
    • For 64-bit Linux on z, run <CognosPatchDir>/zlinux64h/issetup
    • For 64-bit AIX, run <CognosPatchDir>/aix64h/issetup

  6. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard and install the patch to the <RRDIInstallDir>/cognos directory.

  7. Delete <RRDIInstallDir>/cognos/p2pd.ear.

  8. Start the RRDI Setup server and log on to the Setup application at https://<report_server_host>:10443/rrdi/setup

  9. Click Set up Rational Reporting.

  10. Click Next repeatedly to advance to the Build and Deploy Reporting Components page. Click Deploy.

  11. Click Next and click Finish.

  12. Shut down the RRDI Setup server.

  13. Re-enable SSL on the report server (if needed).




Insight 1.1.1.x (1.1.1, 1.1.1.1, 1.1.1.2 )

  1. Configure user access on the report and ETL servers.

  2. If you have set up a distributed ETL server, perform steps 1 to 6 detailed for RRDI 2.0.x above to install the IBM Cognos Business Intelligence 10.1 Interim Fixes for Security Exposure on the ETL server.

  3. Perform steps 1 to 10 detailed for RRDI 2.0.x above to install the IBM Cognos Business Intelligence 10.1 Interim Fixes for Security Exposure on the report server and run the Setup application.

  4. Click Next repeatedly to advance to the Build and Deploy Insight Reporting Components page. Click Deploy.

  5. Click Next and click Finish.

  6. If you have set up a distributed ETL server, perform the following additional steps:
    1. Delete <RRDIInstallDir>/cognos/p2pd.ear on the ETL server.
    2. Start the Setup server on the ETL server.
    3. Return to the main Setup page in your browser and click Distributed ETL Scenario.
    4. Click Next repeatedly to advance to the Build and Deploy Reporting Components page.
      Click Deploy.
    5. Click Next and click Finish.
    6. Shut down the Setup server on the ETL server.

  7. Shut down the Setup server on the report server.

  8. Re-enable SSL on the report and ETL servers (if needed).

  9. Re-configure user access on the report and ETL servers (if needed).
