Install Cognos 8 Business Intelligence 8.4.1 Interim Fix 3 for Security Exposure to resolve security vulnerabilities in RRDI 1.0.2.x and Rational Insight 1.0.1.x - Oracle CPU June 2013

Procedure:

RRDI 1.0.2.x (1.0.2, 1.0.2.1)

1. Shut down the report server WAS service.
   
   
2. Download the Cognos 8 Business Intelligence 8.4.1 Interim Fix 3 for Security Exposure for your platform (32-bit Windows or Linux) and unzip its content to a local directory on the report server (for example <CognosPatchDir>).
   
   
3. Navigate to <CognosPatchDir> and start the installation wizard:
• For Windows, run <CognosPatchDir>\win32\issetup.exe.
• For Linux, run <CognosPatchDir>/linuxi38632/issetup.
  
  
4. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard and install the patch to the <RRDIInstallDir>/cognos or <InsightInstallDir>/cognos directory.
   
   Note: For the rest of the steps, you may substitute <RRDIInstallDir> with <InsightInstallDir> if you had installed Insight instead of RRDI.
   
   
5. Delete <RRDIInstallDir>/cognos/p2pd.ear.
   
   
6. Open a command prompt or terminal window and navigate to <RRDIInstallDir>/cognos/war/p2pd.
   
   For example, on Windows, navigate to C:\Program Files\IBM\RRDI\cognos\war\p2pd.
   
8. Run the following command to rebuild the <RRDIInstallDir>/cognos/p2pd.ear file:
• build -Dcontext_root=<context_root> ear
  
  where <context_root> is either "reporting" or "insight", based on the Web application root context you had specified when installing RRDI 1.0.2.x or Rational Insight 1.0.1.x.
  
  For example, if you had specified "reporting" as the context root, run the following command:
  
  build -Dcontext_root=reporting ear
  
  
9. Start the report server WAS service.
   
   
10. Perform the following steps to update the IBM Cognos 8 Web application by redeploying the <RRDIInstallDir>/cognos/p2pd.ear file:
    
1. Start the WebSphere Administrative Console associated with the RationalReport profile.
2. Log on and navigate to Applications > Application Types > WebSphere enterprise applications.
3. Select the IBM Cognos checkbox, click Uninstall and click OK.
4. Click Save to save the changes.
5. Delete <WASInstallDir>/AppServer/profiles/RationalReport/temp/RationalReportNode01/RationalReportServer/IBM_Cognos_8.
   Note: If you had installed the embedded WebSphere application server with the Insight, <WASInstallDir> is the same as <InsightInstallDir>.
6. Return back to the WebSphere Administrative Console.
7. Click Install to install a new Web application.
8. Click Browse, select <RRDIInstallDir>/cognos/p2pd.ear file and click Next.
9. Click Next repeatedly to advance to the Summary wizard page.
10. Click Finish.
11. Click Save to the save the changes.
12. Log out and exit the WebSphere Administrative Console.
    
11. Restart the report server WAS service.

1. If you have set up a distributed ETL server, shut down the ETL server WAS service.
   
   
2. Perform steps 1 to 10 detailed for RRDI 1.0.x above to install the Cognos 8 Business Intelligence 8.4.1 Interim Fix 3 for Security Exposure on the report server.
   
4. If you have set up a distributed ETL server, perform steps 2 to 10 detailed for RRDI 1.0.x above to install the Cognos 8 Business Intelligence 8.4.1 Interim Fix 3 for Security Exposure on the ETL server.
   
   Note: In step 2, 8 and 10, substitute "report server" with "ETL server".
