EMC Centera SDK version 3.3X requires Windows update MS11-025

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

The IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server server may log the following error message when loading the NDMP module:

ANR4864E The Centera support module was not loaded.

Cause

Since version 3.3X of EMC Centera SDK, EMC changed to use VisualStudio2005 (VS8) to build the dll that request "MSVC*80.dll". Because the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server was built by VC9, it will not install those MS*80.dll and will fail to load the EMC Centera SDK module.

Diagnosing the problem

A Server trace of the dsmserv startup ( with "CENTERA SPID SPI" traceflags) will show that "centera.dll" cannot be load:

[0][pkload.c][198][pkLoadModuleExt]:Could not load module centera.dll
